CAIRO Medicines user guide
What it does
CAIRO Medicines lets your AI assistant look up the approved label for a
medicine authorised in the EU or the US and show you the text, with the
source.
You can ask about what a medicine is used for, how it is taken, who should
not take it, warnings and precautions, interactions with other medicines, use
in pregnancy and breastfeeding, side effects, ingredients and strengths, and
storage. It can also list the versions of a label and tell you where to report
a suspected side effect.
Where the information comes from
- EU: product information published by the European Medicines Agency.
- US: labeling published on DailyMed by the US National Library of
Medicine.
Every passage comes with its source link, the document type, the version
and the date, so you can open the original and check it.
What it does not do
- It does not give medical advice, diagnose, or calculate doses.
- It does not summarise or rewrite label text. Your assistant may explain
it to you; the passages and sources underneath are the label's own
words.
- It does not recommend or rank products, and it does not sell or link to
the sale of any medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your own treatment. In an
emergency, contact your local emergency services.
Set it up in Claude
- Open Claude and go to the connectors directory.
- Find CAIRO Medicines and choose Connect. No account or
sign-in is needed.
- Start a new chat and ask about a medicine.
To add it by URL instead, use the install page.
Example questions
- What does the EU label say are the side effects of Mounjaro?
- What does the US patient information say about how to use Dupixent?
- Show me the version history of Keytruda's EU label.
- Where do I report a suspected side effect of a medicine in the US?
Good to know
- Patient or professional documents. Answers use the documents
written for patients by default. If you are a healthcare professional, say so
and ask for the professional document (the SmPC in the EU, the prescribing
information in the US).
- Same name in more than one country. If a name matches products in
both the EU and the US, your assistant will ask which one you mean.
- Language. Documents are served in your language where available,
otherwise in English, and the answer says so.
- Limits. The service is free and rate limited. If you see a
rate-limit message, wait a minute and try again.
